Walmart

The Mission
Turning a global hardware fleet into a self-managing system
The Challenge
Walmart's printer fleet — spanning 300,000+ global hardware assets — relied on manual firmware updates, credential rotation, and maintenance checks. This created security exposure and a steady stream of support tickets landing on the APEX Print Engineering team.
My Approach
I designed and built automation workflows covering firmware compliance, credential rotation, and preventative maintenance across the fleet. I led root-cause analysis sessions with engineering and L2 support to find the real source of recurring tickets, then built Python-based telemetry automation to centralize operational data across every asset — giving the team visibility they'd never had before. I also partnered directly with hardware vendors, including Zebra, to standardize credential lifecycle management.
The Result
The result was $1M in annual cost savings and a 45% reduction in incoming APEX Print Engineering tickets, with telemetry now centralized across all 300,000+ global assets and a materially stronger security posture from vendor-standardized credential rotation.
